Lockets From The Past

An antique book locket from 1840's. This locket was most likely worn by a British soldier while he was on duty in India, protecting the British Empire's interests abroad. It has a bit of rust. The pictures are of two children.
These pictures, still mostly intact are inside this wonderful locket. A woman or young lady is on the back page Inside the first two pages of the locket are young children. The hairstyle of the girl, dates back to the mid 1840's.

Military Lockets Were Important Keepsakes

A US Naval Locket probably from WWII. Inside are two children which were kept close to heart, while her husband was deployed at sea.

Lockets such as this Naval Locket were important keepsakes for the families of the deployed. It served as a constant reminder that their loved one was away and serving their country, doing their duty. Lockets such as these are often worn today, still. Both men and women wear them. The deployed are given lockets with pictures of their family to keep close to them while on active duty. And the parents and families keep lockets with photos of their soldier, to have them always close to their heart.
